Former Mayor of Detroit Kwame Kilpatrick has violated the terms of his probation. Part of his probation was that he was required to make restitution payments from earlier court cases, and he failed to make sufficient payments. He will serve no less than eighteen months of a five year sentence for the parole violation. He was a controversial figure in and out of office.

Kwame Kilpatrick sentenced to five years

Kwame Kilpatrick pled guilty to obstruction of justice in 2008, for which he served 99 days. He was ordered to repay $ 1 million to the City of Detroit for the offenses. After he failed to make sufficient payments on time, a warrant was issued for his arrest by Judge David Groner. Kwame Kilpatrick also was accused of hiding assets from the court, including real estate and Cadillac Escalades. He said he was oblivious as to who had paid for them, according to the New York Times. Even if he had a high priced attorney on retainer using a personal loan to get one, it wasn't sufficient.

The original scandals

The UK election result is a hung parliament, as suspected. While the term itself may avail itself to juvenile humor, a hung parliament is really not that humorous. The last hung parliament (as a result of a General Election) occurred in 1974, and had to be resolved by a special election eight months later. Some individuals are likely confused as to what that means, so we’ll go ahead and brush up on our Poli-Sci, and you also won’t have to give me any instant loans for doing so. The UK election elects a hung parliament

There hasn't been an absolute majority established by the UK election results, and thus there is a hung parliament. That means that unless something is done about it, the Parliament of Great Britain won't be able to do anything. That means they cannot pick a Prime Minister or do other things. In essence, a hung parliament means that Great Britain is hamstrung.

The short version is whichever party wins the most seats in a UK election picks a government, like the Prime Minister and so on. When there isn’t an absolute majority, that means that regardless of who really got one of the most votes, they won’t be able to do much of anything because every person else outnumbers them. When that happens, there could be either a minority government (trying to make it work anyway, which rarely works) a coalition government by making agreements with an additional party, or have one more election.
